Human Rights Aware is an organisation dedicated to serving the general public on the field of Human Rights, Advocacy and Mediation.
Noting with great concern, that majority of people are confused and unable to obtain, defend and protect their basic rights; the HRA therefore is convinced that there is an urgent need for human dignity to be respected and assistance given to seek and establish these rights.
There are people suffering in silence either watching their rights denied, taken away or grossly violated. With no knowledge/resources to speak, demand/seek their rights, they compromise their dignity and forgo even their basic fundamental rights.
The scope of justifiable rights and available remedies for individuals to claim these rights are entrenched in The Human Rights Act which was adopted by the British Parliament in 1998. This goes along with the provisions contained in the European Convention on Human Rights which calls for compatibility of British Laws with those of the European Union.
" Human Rights education is a priority - more concrete action is needed." Human rights can only be realised if people are informed about their rights and know how to use them. Education about human rights is therefore central to the effective implementation of the agreed standards. While this was emphasised 60 years ago when the Universal Declaration of Human RIghts was adopted, we are still far from ensuring that people know their rights and understand how to claim them." - (Thomas Hammarberg - 2008)
Promotion and maintenance of human dignity is the main focus and this is taken with the seriousness it deserves.
